The Dry Method of Magnetic Particle Testing reveals indications more readily than they would appear to the naked eye. Inspectors lightly dust the surface of the magnetized part with specially-designed iron powder that "sticks" to discontinuities due to magnetic flux leakage, creating a powder build.

The Wet Method of Magnetic Particle Testing is more sensitive to fine surface and slightly subsurface discontinuities. HADCO uses only MAGNAFLUX 20B Water-Based Wet Fluorescent Magnetic Particle Solution and ZB-100 Blacklights for testing.
